Toyota :: Stivoness
Toyotas! Yes! Finally we have something other than a Honda on the site!
The Corolla Sportivo is one of those cars you don’t necessarily associate with performance.
But despite the label this car is actually a bit of a gun! It had a bit of torque and like’s to chew tyres!
Six on the floor and a 141kw under the bonnet. The Sportivo was made from 2003-2005 and I would personally regard this car as the next best corolla after the AE92 gti.
Don’t get me wrong, it is no AE86. However, this little shopping cart has the goods.
Like the 4A engine, the 1zz/2zz engines are well built and put up with a lot of punishment.
We got close to the water, close enough for the cars to take a swim!
Docklands put on some good weather and it provided a nice quiet locations for us to shoot these two.
The following for the Corolla Sportivo has had its up and downs, but there is still a fair amount of respect for this car.
With pod filter, exhaust, full sway bar and stut-brace setup these stivo’s handle well and make for a great daily.
If only the supercharger kit was affordable!
Parking in the middle of the road is scary when all you can hear is B’doubles rolling around docklands.
You can pick these up relatively cheap these days, while the face lift version still remains a bit pricey.
The Integra Type R and the Corolla Sportivo are often compared….
Many Integra Type R’s have been beaten in a straight line by the Corolla… many may claim this fact to be untrue, but I can say I have seen it happen with my own eyes.
Alright who forgot to turn their wheels? Photo fail!! 🙂
Probably the best thing about this car is that it just looks like every other Corolla, so
you never draw too much attention from the Po Po in this little car.
The first time I saw one of these it was in Box Hill. It was black with the same modified grill, eyelids and was sitting low on a set of Rays te37 wheels. At that moment a thought entered my head “I wouldn’t mind one of these!”
Over the next few months we will be featuring some more unique and overlooked cars like these.
At this point I feel it is important to let everyone know that these cars are actually our girlfriends cars! We though “hey why don’t we practice night shooting with flashes at docklands” with their cars before testing it out on the real deal!
Thanks for looking,
