Gripshiftslide was lucky enough to score a special invite to a private test day for one of Bridgestone&#8217;s latest products. Other guests to be invited to the event included Full Boost, DownShift, Justin Fox, ClubItr and many more.<br />
<span id="more-4887"></span><br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/re003/wrx_group.jpg" alt=""><br />
Originally scheduled to be held at Norwell Racetrack in Queensland the event was moved to Calder Park because of a large tropical cyclone! Good thing it was moved because on the day we were expected to be on track the entire Norwell Racetrack got flooded.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/re003/wrx_rear.jpg" alt=""><br />
I could not wait to get behind the wheel of the new WRX! Of the two cars we were using to test Bridgestone&#8217;s new tyre the WRX was the one I was more keen to test with.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/re003/re003_tyre.jpg" alt=""><br />
The reason we were all summoned was to test the brand new Bridgestone Adrenalin POTENZA RE003. The third in a series of great tyres the RE003 combines all the greatest aspects of the tyres that came before it.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/re003/wrx_all.jpg" alt=""><br />
With some time to kill before briefing I took the time to take a closer look at the all new WRX. This particular demo car was wearing its big brothers shoes! That&#8217;s right some STI wheels! The WRX continued to stare at me and practically begged me to drive it!<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/re003/all.jpg" alt=""><br />
At briefing we were invited to learn more about the tyre we would be testing on the day. This included a presentation on the benefits of this awesome new tyre such as improved road contact pressure over the preceding RE002 model. Check out more features <a href="http://gripshiftslide.com/other/Potenza_Adrenalin_RE003.pdf">HERE</a>.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/re003/IMG_1340.jpg" alt=""><br />
The boys quickly checked out the tyres before hitting the first track test. The RE003 has a cool lightning bolt pattern down the right side of the tyre. The fancy name for this is the connection block and it helps to increase rigidity and transfer power in dry conditions.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/re003/1J7A5046.jpg" alt=""><br />
Starting on the back straight we had the challenge of negating a slalom at 3 different speeds in two VW Golf GTIs. One car was running the new POTENZA Adrenalin RE003 tyres and the other Golf was running an expensive competitor tyre.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/re003/1J7A5043.jpg" alt=""><br />
We started the slalom at 50kph on the competitors tyre. This test was easy and the tyre preformed relatively well. It was when we took the tyre over 65kph that things began to change! Having to be more aggressive with the wheel at a faster speed the tyres had to work a whole lot harder. When we raised the speed again, now at 75kph, the competitor tyre really started to scream in pain and many cones were knocked down!<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/re003/1J7A5074.jpg" alt=""><br />
Then we jumped in the other Golf GTI equipped with the Bridgestone POTENZA Adrenalin RE003 tyres. The first thing I noticed about this tyre was as soon as I gave the car the beans it bit into the road and launched the car faster than the competitor tyre. The control was much greater especially when you took the tyre to its limit.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/re003/1J7A5155.jpg" alt=""><br />
Next we tested the tyres in the wet! Finally it was time to drive the new WRX. I was expecting a crazy rush of acceleration as I put my foot to the floor however there was nothing. It was just a very calm launch lacking excitement. Yet again we started the exercise with a car running the competitors tyre. Taking it through its paces I noticed a fair bit of understeer when turning in heavy.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/re003/1J7A5124.jpg" alt=""><br />
It was time to swap cars and after having one experience with the Bridgestone tyre already I was beginning to trust in the tyre. Still I was unsure on how it would translate in the wet? I jumped in the car anticipating some understeer but in actual fact the tyre cut in so well I ended up oversteering! It was almost like I had too much control.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/re003/1J7A5194.jpg" alt=""><br />
The tests were not over! Bridgestone wanted to make sure we put their new tyre through its paces! This was the second last test and it involved racing down the hill into a tighter slalom in the WRX.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/re003/1J7A5274.jpg" alt=""><br />
Knowing that the WRX felt slow in comparison to the Golf GTI I started to mess with its many sport driving modes. Finally I found a mode that pushed the tyre harder and now that I had confidence in the tyre I was really beginning to give it hell! From lock to lock I accelerated as hard as the traction control would let me and still the tyre was predictable and totally in control.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/re003/1J7A5222.jpg" alt=""><br />
It wasn&#8217;t only me who was impressed! Everyone was pleasantly surprised at the tyres performance. The tyre really preformed well on extreme direction change. The competitor tyre would tend to lose speed yet the RE003 had the ability to grip when others would just fade.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/re003/1J7A4945.jpg" alt=""><br />
In both FWD and AWD the tyre was outstanding! I did however come out of these tests scratching my head at the fact that the GTI Golf was out performing the new WRX. You heard right! The Golf was fun and the DSG was super fast. The WRX on the other hand was sloppy; the suspension was too soft which in turn created body roll. Its off the line performance was sluggish and it only really felt good over 70kph.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/re003/1J7A5277.jpg" alt=""><br />
The last test was designed to show us a real-time comparison between the Bridgestone POTENZA Adrenalin RE003 and a equivalent competitor tyre. We took part in two hot laps with one on each tyre chasing each other at the same speed.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/re003/IMG_1369.jpg" alt=""><br />
This test really showed how at the same speed the competitors tyre would cause the car to understeer while the Bridgestone RE003 would grip and gain on the car in front.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/re003/1J7A5285.jpg" alt=""><br />
All in all this tyre is the perfect sport tyre and is great for spirited driving or the occasional track day. Even after a host of Australia&#8217;s best car bloggers tortured these tyres for a full day there was no visible wear or tyre delamination on the RE003. I would not hesitate to recommend this tyre! What better way to start off the new year than with a big car meet?! Held at Moorabbin Super Centre this Facebook only event had huge numbers confirming their attendance. All were there to show off their rides whilst supporting the great charity Beyond Blue.<br />
<span id="more-4803"></span><br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/bb_meet/1J7A00689.jpg" alt="starion crysler"><br />
The first car that really caught my eye was this uniquely painted Chrysler Sigma Scorpion. It was airbrushed in a military aircraft style complete with rivets and imitation surface rust.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/bb_meet/1J7A99936.jpg" alt="coupe, scorpion chrysler"><br />
At first glance I thought this was a modified Mitsubishi Starion! As I got closer I was shocked to find that this was a Chrysler. With the classic standard wheels dressed in matte black the car is not screaming for attention yet the paint work really draws you in.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/bb_meet/1J7A0068.jpg" alt="r34 skyline"><br />
Although this car meet was mainly made up of Holdens and Fords I chose to focus on the imports and cars that caught my attention. This R34 decided to create his own car park as the space was seriously getting limited.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/bb_meet/1J7A006899.jpg" alt="new v8 in old car"><br />
The award for attention to detail has to go to this Hz Holden panel van! It featured a shiny new V8 that was cleaner than most cars in attendance.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/bb_meet/1J7A006888.jpg" alt="86 on the move"><br />
The cars continued to roll in! This immaculate 86 flew past bringing with it many new cars to the meet.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/bb_meet/1J7A00333.jpg" alt="toyota 86"><br />
The pair that really stood out for me were these amazing 86&#8217;s. Both had their own style and both were real neck breakers.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/bb_meet/1J7A006877.jpg" alt="saint side snoop dog airfrshener"><br />
It&#8217;s the small details of a car that really give it personality. Take for instance this Snoop Dogg air freshener which helps give the car some attitude. Unique air fresheners are becoming popular; our friends at <a href="http://www.saintside.com/">Saint Side</a> have all the gear to make your car stand out.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/bb_meet/1J7A006833.jpg" alt="supra yellow australia"><br />
An automotive icon, the Toyota Supra, is a car that will always stand out even if it&#8217;s not painted in bright yellow! It has most likely the biggest ass on a 2 door car you will ever see! This along with its performance makes it a true modern day classic.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/bb_meet/1J7A006822.jpg" alt="Work Meisters"><br />
Pretty much sex on wheels.. so lots of people are not into stance but you have to respect the look of this immaculate 86. With iconic Work Meisters wheels and a beautiful static ride height it&#8217;s hard to believe how this car can be driven daliy with out any guard damage.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/bb_meet/1J7A006811.jpg" alt="camo Commodore"><br />
Want to make your Commodore and your bike stand out? Vinyl wrap them in blue camo! Wearing some funky star shaped shoes this Holden had a style all of its own.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/bb_meet/1J7A006800.jpg" alt="vw type 3"><br />
I was surprised to see this type 3 VW at a car meet like this. Usually more suited to a Euro meet it was great to see a mix of car makes on show.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/bb_meet/1J7A00700.jpg" alt="white inetior"><br />
A true combination of modern and classic merged together this interior is very individual while being subtle at the same time.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/bb_meet/1J7A00800.jpg" alt="lowered audi a3"><br />
Modifying an Audi takes balls. Not only is the car expensive but also the parts! In saying that this looks great and we wish more people would make their Audis look dope.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/bb_meet/1J7A00334.jpg" alt="lots of cars melbourne car meet"><br />
There were lots of cars that turned up and I mean lots of cars! With 4 car parks full the car meet scene is starting to heat up again this year with plenty of new players.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/bb_meet/1J7A0089.jpg" alt="Mercedes dumped"><br />
Luxury cars never looked so good. Dumped on its ass this Mercedes embodies extreme luxury with plenty of style.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/bb_meet/1J7A0099.jpg" alt="coupe chrysler"><br />
Neo would approve of this paint job! Heavily airbrushed with heaps of detail! Although this style was extremely popular in the late nineties you do not see much of it these days.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/bb_meet/1J7A0077.jpg" alt="Ferrari melbourne"><br />
Why take a Ferrari to a local car meet? Because you can! As soon as it parked a huge crowd formed and the questions started. So how fast have you been in it? Does it get you the ladies?!<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/bb_meet/1J7A00223.jpg" alt="Porsche boxer with wheels"><br />
As the Boxter becomes more affordable we will soon see a lot more modified Porsches on the road.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/bb_meet/1J7A00111.jpg" alt="s15 white gold wheels"><br />
The purple engine bay adds a lot of character to this s15. Dressed all in white with some classy gold wheels and a nice kit it&#8217;s hard to walk past this beast without a second look.</p>
<div id="cf"><img decoding="async" class="bottom" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/bb_meet/1J7A0212.jpg" alt="evo Tommy Makinen mitsubishi"><img decoding="async" class="top" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/bb_meet/1J7A00222.jpg" alt="evo Tommy Makinen mitsubishi"></div>
<p>As the sun went down the cars started to leave and what was left? A genuine Tommy Makinen Evo that had been hiding behind the crowd of Commodores and Fords.<br />
This was the biggest car meet I had been to in some time. It was similar in numbers to HWY yet with less trouble. It looks like there will be plenty of large car meets and cruises this year and we look forward to checking them out.<br />
Thanks for reading,<br />

<p>Street Vision&#8217;s Biggest JDM meet was planned well in advance. The group has been steadily building its fan base over the last six months and it was time to get the fans out and about. I arrived at Port Melbourne to find this amazing R34 GTR just siting in the shade among a variety of cars.<br />
<span id="more-4279"></span></p>
<div id="cf"><img decoding="async" class="bottom" alt="bmw m3 engine" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/QS3I1241.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="top" alt="bmw m3 engine" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/QS3I1252.jpg"></div>
<p>Could it be M power or just nice engine paint work? Either way it looks great! A small crowd gathered as the owner opened the hood and all you could hear was the gasp of air from the crowd as they admired this super clean engine bay.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="subaru liberty sti modified" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/QS3I1310.jpg"><br />
With its subtle looks this Liberty is the perfect covert &#8216;go fast&#8217; car and is sure not to attract the attention of the law. With a seriously dark tint and red highlights this is one tidy package.</p>
<div id="cf"><img decoding="async" class="bottom" alt="badass Mercedes children" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/1J7A2414.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="top" alt="Mercedes kids" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/1J7A2352.jpg"></div>
<p>Not your average 18 year old&#8217;s car! Not sure how they acquired this but one thing is for sure they had fun showing it off!<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="70's celica interior" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/1J7A2392.jpg"><br />
If you know your old Toyotas you will recognize this interior! Yep that&#8217;s right it&#8217;s the legendary Ta22 Celica. That short dash with sunken dials is so classic!<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="celica yellow old school" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/QS3I1138.jpg"><br />
This Celica was even sporting a paint job that is so close to the original yellow that they were released in. Keeping a classic car is a big job especially if the car is over 30 years old! This is one true JDM car.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="rc cars tamiya yokomo" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/rc_cars.jpg"><br />
Not only were there heaps of cars in attendance but there was also a few Drift RC cars tearing up the bitumen. The smaller scale drift RC cars are really getting popular and these days it is very rare to see the old TT01 Tamiya that was once the most popular drift RC car.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="impreza subaru wrx look a like" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/QS3I1343.jpg"><br />
I was very impressed by the wheel choice of this Impreza. It&#8217;s not often people get it right but hats off to the owner of this very well presented Subaru. Even though this is not the WRX it does look like one and still complies with the strict power restrictions that Victorian probationary licence holders have to adhere to.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="honda accord euro bbs rims" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/1J7A2427.jpg"><br />
A good variety of cars showed up for the meet and many that were not JDM! This is something that is now becoming a lot more acceptable. Bridging the gap between classes is something we as gripshiftslide tried very early on to promote with our own car shows and it is great to see the wider community continuing this trend.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="comic art on car" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/QS3I1175.jpg"><br />
It is not just stickerbombing that is catching on but also comic/ manga art is starting to make its way onto the scene. Mark my words you will see more of this cool collage work in the future.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="rx7 fd red big wheels" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/1J7A2671.jpg"><br />
This shape never gets old! It is hard to believe that the FD RX7 is now over ten years old and still looks this good. Mazda have plans to produce a successor to the RX7 which is due to hit the roads in 2014. We just hope it is as good and future proof as the FD RX7 was.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="nissans roll in" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/1J7A2483.jpg"><br />
A crowd soon formed just to watch the new cars arriving. Many cars left in little groups but were soon replaced by bigger groups of cars.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="nissans roll in" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/QS3I1162.jpg"><br />
You do not see many Corolla sportivos around as the popularity of this Corolla has declined. It is a hot hatch that often gets overlooked but one that has plenty of up and go and will chop the odd vtec.</p>
<div id="cf"><img decoding="async" class="bottom" alt="honda civic yellow jdm" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/1J7A2356.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="top" alt="honda civic melbourne" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/QS3I1180.jpg"></div>
<p>There was a decent collection of Hondas that showed up including this tidy EK Civic. I like the fact this Civic hasn&#8217;t been ruined by cheap eBay parts and that its subtle skirts, spoiler and wheels make this Civic street worthy.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="mx5 stunner" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/QS3I1285.jpg"><br />
The MX5 is making a comeback; so many people are buying them up now it seems like everyone has one for a daily or a track car. This is one sexy MX5 with some seriously nice wheels and double spoiler action!<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="jdm cars melbourne" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/QS3I1298.jpg"><br />
Here&#8217;s one JDM group with a sneaky euro intruder! There were a handful of euro cars scattered in the crowd, silently hiding and trying not to draw attention.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="honda s2000 interior" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/1J7A2378_1.jpg"><br />
If you know your Hondas you will recognize this interior. Yes it&#8217;s the unmistakable S2000 interior! It&#8217;s very similar to the NSX interior but just a tad more modern.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="honda s2000" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/1J7A2340.jpg"><br />
It&#8217;s amazing that this car has now become affordable when once it was completely out of reach and only reserved for the semi wealthy. The S2000 is one car that looks great for its age and has to be one of the best convertibles made in the last 20 years.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="r34 skyline" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/1J7A2505.jpg"><br />
Many cars came and went but not all of them stopped to stay and take part in the meet. A strange phenomenon happens at these car meets when a small crowd of cars develops yet no one waits around till it gets big enough to make waves.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="s15 blue turbo" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/1J7A2673.jpg"><br />
Not much is needed to make a Nissan S15 look fantastic. Wheels, suspension, exhaust and a boost controller are all that is needed to make these cars a head turner. Out of the factory the car looks great but with these little changes the car becomes ultimately more sexy.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="many cars street vission car meet" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/1J7A2648.jpg"><br />
From here you can see the many different cars that turned out for the Street Vision meet including a wide variety of Hondas. These are the typical JDM car of choice being zippy, good handling with so many great after market parts. Why wouldn&#8217;t you have Honda?!<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="s15 blue turbo" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/stickers.jpg"><br />
Here is a small selection of stickers seen on the day. It was great to see our <a href="http://store.gripshiftslide.com/">sticker</a> on may cars supporting Street Vision.</p>
<div id="cf"><img decoding="async" class="bottom" alt="ke70 corrola with webber carbie and truppets" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/QS3I1307.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="top" alt="ke70 corrola" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/1J7A2421.jpg"></div>
<p>The KE70 has always been one of my favorites and a car that has steadily gained popularity over the years. This orange one caught my eye and the owner was nice enough to show me what was under the bonnet. Check out these trumpets hanging off the mean looking carburetors. This was one of my favorite cars of the day with its low and subtle looks.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="street vision meet" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/streetvision_big/1J7A2622.jpg"><br />
Another great meet from Steet Vision With 5 times as many cars as their last meet! This huge JDM meet was great and we can see Street Vision becoming a bigger group in the future.<br />
Thanks for reading,<br />

<p>When a bunch of Volkswagen&#8217;s get together, you know that a diverse range of people will arrive with them.<br />
The show and swap meet was held this year at the Williamstown Maritime Association just near the main pier of Williamstown. With such a unique location, situated just on the waters edge, this show really made the cars shine.<span id="more-3908"></span></p>
<div id="cf"><img decoding="async" class="bottom" alt="vw kombie's" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/QS3I3467_1.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="top" alt="children and vw" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/1J7A9047.jpg"></div>
<p>Don&#8217;t be fooled though, the day wasn&#8217;t just for enthusiasts. It was also a family friendly day out with heaps of kids and of course dogs out and about enjoying the sunny atmosphere.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="staffie dog and kombie vans" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/1J7A9054.jpg"><br />
The variety of cars on show was huge to say the least, not to mention the amount of parts and unfinished projects that were up for sale.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="vw beetle herbie style" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/1J7A9151_1.jpg"><br />
This BUG was a true show stopper and with an almost Herbie style colour scheme and some summer decals, this was one phenomenal car.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="Karmann Ghia Coupe" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/1J7A9060_1.jpg"><br />
Peering in through the window, this doesn&#8217;t look like a Volkswagen&#8230; but looks can be deceiving!<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="Ghia Coupe" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/1J7A9022.jpg"><br />
The Karmann Ghia coupe is one of the most sought after and collectible VWs. It has its own style and you can even see that hint of Porsche styling within the shape of this car.</p>
<div id="cf"><img decoding="async" class="bottom" alt="vw beetle" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/QS3I3486.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="top" alt="vw beetle" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/QS3I3460.jpg"></div>
<p>Apart from the large collection of VW Beetles and Kombies, there were also a fair amount of type 3 Volkswagens on show.</p>
<div id="cf"><img decoding="async" class="bottom" alt="type 3" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/QS3I3435.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="top" alt="huge range of vw type 3" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/1J7A9081.jpg"></div>
<p>This is not your average VW Beetle. With enough horse power to move a small planet, it looked truly intimidating. Everything on this car apart from the shell had been constructed just for this build and with the aim of going stupidly fast!<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="vw beetle" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/QS3I3379.jpg"><br />
This wasn&#8217;t part of the show, but I found it lurking in the car park. I love kit cars, especially ones that are clubman style.</p>
<div id="cf"><img decoding="async" class="bottom" alt="sea shepard boat" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/QS3I3403.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="top" alt="Steve Irwin boat" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/1J7A9095.jpg"></div>
<p>With the Sea Shepard&#8217;s &#8220;Steve Irwin&#8221; looking over the Swap Meet &amp; Show, many people couldn&#8217;t help but take a closer look at the famous ship.</p>
<div id="cf"><img decoding="async" class="bottom" alt="vw beetle rust" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/QS3I3414.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="top" alt="vw rusty" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/1J7A9052.jpg"></div>
<p>The one thing that VW owners know is character. Of all the modified and non modified cars we have seen none have as much character or are as individualised as older VW&#8217;s.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="vw Safari Kombie van" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/1J7A9119.jpg"><br />
The Safari Kombie van is the slightly rarer version of the Kombie. However, in Australia we didn&#8217;t get too many of them and to see this one restored was a great sight to see.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="Mini Mokes" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/QS3I3408.jpg"><br />
This isn&#8217;t a VW obviously but Mini Mokes are a dying breed and it seems it&#8217;s the perfect run around for the Sea Shepard group. Check out its double canon exhaust setup! Plus its hardcore roll bars makes this little Moke ready for a fight.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="type 3 coupe" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/1J7A9124.jpg"><br />
What an impressive pillar-less VW custom type 3 coupe. Removing the pillar from this type 3 makes it look much cleaner and puts a new spin on an old favorite.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="vw beetle drag car engine" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/1J7A9137.jpg"><br />
Some seriously beautiful pipe work here and a monster turbo to match! Love the side by side exhaust and screamer pipe set up.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="vw parts speedo" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/1J7A9143.jpg"><br />
All kinds of parts were on sale with these speedo&#8217;s catching my eye. Parts for these cars are getting so rare that anything in working condition is desirable.</p>
<div id="cf"><img decoding="async" class="bottom" alt="vw parts" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/1J7A9058.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="top" alt="vw star" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/1J7A9048.jpg"></div>
<p>It&#8217;s those individual touches that make VWs special. People add the most unique trinkets to their cars which adds real personality to them.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="notchback vw type 3" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/1J7A9149_1.jpg"><br />
Stephen&#8217;s Notchback was looking amazing as usual! Such a clean ride with a great set of wheels to match.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="vw kombie" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/QS3I3480_1.jpg"><br />
There were lots of Kombies on display and even a few on sale. They are becoming the most prized VW and have seriously gone up in price over the last 5 years.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="vw 1600" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/1J7A9040.jpg"><br />
Not as popular as the Beetle but just as nice is the 1968 Notchback which has the advantage of being just that little bit lighter than the Beetle.</p>
<div id="cf"><img decoding="async" class="bottom" alt="vw parts everywhere" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/1J7A9091.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="top" alt="swap meet parts" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/QS3I3433.jpg"></div>
<p>With so many parts and engines for sale this swap meet provided a haven for collectors. It gave restorers a good chance to source that hard to find part needed for their project.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="vw beetles in a row" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/QS3I3396.jpg"><br />
The show had a rather early start so most people disappeared around midday for lunch. Yet there still were a few die-hard VW fans checking out the remaining cars.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="squareback vw type 3 station wagon modified" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwswap/QS3I3505_1.jpg"><br />
There is always one in a crowd that sticks out! Rossko&#8217;s 1600 Squareback certainly does that! We first spotted this car at the <a href="http://gripshiftslide.com/2013/02/21/hanging-rock-classic-spectacular/">Hanging Rock Car Show</a> and may even feature it in the future.<br />
The day was full of great cars and fantastic people. The Volkswagen community is growing with every year! With many of the members traveling interstate for this very show it truly represents their passion for these wonderful cars.<br />
Thanks for looking,<br />

<p>With so many sunny days in a row it was perfect weather for a summer themed car show, namely the I Love Volkswagen – Summer Sun show. We were all ready for one of the biggest Euro car shows of the year.<span id="more-3367"></span><br />
<img decoding="async" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/QS3I1534.jpg"><br />
The event was held at Como Park which is a venue normally reserved for large, local sporting events however&nbsp;after arriving early,&nbsp;I noticed that this years event was much bigger than the previous year.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/IMG_2554.jpg"><br />
The space was very quickly filled by some of the best looking VW&#8217;s in Victoria and despite&nbsp;the fact that the&nbsp;show was predominantly&nbsp;Volkswagen, there was still plenty of variety to keep people interested.</p>
<div id="cf"><img decoding="async" class="bottom" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/QS3I1511.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="top" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/QS3I1549.jpg"></div>
<p>Apart from the many Volkswagen Golfs, there were some standout classic cars as well. This Karmann Ghia was a true show stopper and it was looking immaculate&nbsp;despite being 40 odd years old.</p>
<div id="cf"><img decoding="async" class="bottom" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/IMG_2524.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="top" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/IMG_2520.jpg"></div>
<p>This Golf was black as night and had a presence all of its own! It&#8217;s one Golf that does not &#8216;need more low&#8217;!<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/IMG_2493.jpg"><br />
Looking at this VW engine bay reminded me of it&#8217;s true German engineering with everything mapped out and kept super neat and tidy.</p>
<div id="cf"><img decoding="async" class="bottom" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/QS3I1550.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="top" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/QS3I1559.jpg"></div>
<p>Euro styling has come a long way since the eightys but I still love the appearance and square lines of that era. What do you guys think?<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/IMG_2511.jpg"><br />
You don&#8217;t often see BBS style wheels on Beatles and we applaud people who decide to take a risk and do what others are afraid to do.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/IMG_2509.jpg"><br />
This has to be one of the coolest roof rack additions I have seen. An old school mini pedal car would normally be sitting in an antique shop not on the roof of some young guys modified ride.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/IMG_2546.jpg"><br />
Talk about getting it right! These wheels suit this A5 Audi coupe like a glove!<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/IMG_2494.jpg"><br />
Volkswagen have really taken it to the small car industry with the new Mark 5 Polo.<br />
With its sharp features and non-offensive design, this Polo stands out in a crowd of small cars that are all competing for the same space. With those great aggressive looking headlights it sure is a winner in my eyes.</p>
<div id="cf"><img decoding="async" class="bottom" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/IMG_2535.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="top" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/QS3I1541.jpg"></div>
<p>Last year there were lots of MK1 Golfs on display but this year not so many! So what has changed? Did everybody choose reliability over restoration or is it a case of internet popularity driving model trends for Volkswagen?<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/IMG_2528.jpg"><br />
Ever since the early days, I have had a soft spot for the Audi A4. This is a serious looking daily with top notch fitment. So flush!<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/IMG_2556.jpg"><br />
Normally a Kombi Van is powered by an overweight mouse running on a wheel that turns the crank shaft but not this one! This is a serious looking air-cooled engine. I am not too good on my Volkswagens but at a guess I would say it&#8217;s the type 4 engine.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/QS3I1517.jpg"><br />
This Jetta brings new meaning to the saying tight fitment. Just look at the tiny gap on the back wheel; now that is precision!<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/QS3I1528.jpg"><br />
Among the classics at the show, was this 1300, sporting some almost period correct wheels.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/QS3I1520.jpg"><br />
I was glad to see some hipster bike action at the show. This purple dragster had more mods than some of the cars on the day.</p>
<div id="cf"><img decoding="async" class="bottom" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/IMG_2536.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="top" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/QS3I1521.jpg"></div>
<p>When&nbsp;I first saw this A4 it was sitting really high. As it slowed to park I heard that all too familiar sound and to the ground it fell. Bagged and sitting on a nice set of Rays, this is one fine looking Audi.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/QS3I1524.jpg"><br />
If you look closely at this photo you will see a very complicated system that converts ye olde speedo language to KPH. It is funny that it took the car industry 40 years to come back to using separate circular style dials but will they bring back miles per hour? I dont think so!<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/QS3I1571.jpg"><br />
It was great to see that nearly every Golf&nbsp;model was on display and even the very rare VR6 Golf.<br />
<img decoding="async" alt="" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/vwcomo/IMG_2566.jpg"><br />
Unfortunately I was unable to stay for the full show because we were hosting our own car show at Caribbean Gardens. Apparently I missed the main show stopper which was a rat rot Golf all rusted up Mighty Mods style that sent the interweb into a wild frenzy.<br />
All in all it was a fantastic show with plenty of variety. The VW and Euro scene is going through huge growth at the moment and we cannot wait until next year to see all the new cars dominate the scene.<br />
Thanks for looking,<br />

<p>It has been almost a decade since the last Geelong speed trials, the Geelong revival is the reinvention of this great event. It has returned in bigger and better fashion. With a motor show, sprint and gala dinner, held over two days along the beautiful Geelong waterfront.<span id="more-3037"></span></p>
<div id="cf"><img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/IMG_0023.jpg" alt="geelong race" class="bottom"><img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/QS3I7816.jpg" alt="geelong race" class="top"></div>
<p>Since 1956 this event has captivated young and old. It has seen its fair share VIP racing identity&#8217;s, Sir Jack Brabham, Stirling Moss, Bob Jane, Glen Seaton, Mika Hakkinen, to name a few.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/IMG_0052.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
Upon arriving i was greeted by a large group of mini car shows scared all along the shore line, up until the start line of the sprint track.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/IMG_0018.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
Some fantastic cars were on display, this has to be one of the cleanest fiats of the show, love the classy lines of this car.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/IMG_0053.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
I found this very yellow lotus 7 enjoying the sun.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/IMG_0099.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
Many more classic cars had grouped to form there own little show cases, this MG had prime position and lots people stopped to admire its unbelievable condition.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/IMG_9976.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
The fiat 500 never looked so good, these wheels set it off and make it look like a real life toy car. But this little toy car is the real deal, its the Abarth version.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/IMG_0116.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
In the pits the first thing to catch my eye, was these classic touring cars, in the eighties, these two dominated the scene and the mountain.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/IMG_0071.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
Some people needed a little helping hand to get there cars started, lucky many had a large pit crew to help out.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/IMG_0124.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
Im not completely sure what a PJC-2 2008 is but apparently this is it! a custom built car, mainly used for track events and club racing.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/IMG_0129.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
The classic mini, getting a quick fix before getting back on the track.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/IMG_0143.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
Slammed type 3, not your normal track car, but it was great to see a car with such character out there mixing it with the big boys.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/IMG_0156.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
There were plenty or replica and real cobras on show, with so many cobras together it was hard to see any difference.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/IMG_9965.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
These controls may look boat like, but back in the day this is what the dash of most cars would have been like.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/QS3I7735.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
What is a classic car event with out an e-type Jag? They always look so good and to date i have never seen dirty one.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/QS3I7740.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
A MG montlhery midget, it is not only a show car but also it has seen some serious time on the track.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/QS3I7749.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
With so many chances to mark his territory, this little dog had unfinished business and did not want to leave.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/QS3I7751.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
That classic shape! and those bold lines! you know it could only be 328GTS Ferrari<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/QS3I7754.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
With more curves than a woman, this ultra rare classic car drew a lot of attention.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/IMG_9969.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
So many cool old school wood grain interiors around i felt the need to go black and white.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/QS3I7770.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
Soaking it all in, were these two blokes enjoying there morning coffee and the many cars on show.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/QS3I7791.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
You may recognize this car from regular rob roy hilclimbs, the Lancia Lambda Special is one large monster of a car.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/QS3I7806.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
This was one of the most unique cars on display in comparison to everything else<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/QS3I7832.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
A true old school touring car, from the days when touring cars had some variety and were good to watch un like today&#8217;s v8 controlled layout. Thankfully the introduction of Nissan and Mercedes might make things a little more interesting.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/QS3I7837.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
This is one of only a handful of hot rods in attendance, most of these were scattered around the shoreline mixed in with many other classic cars.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/QS3I7850.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
Graham Alexander&#8217;s Evo was equal fastest on Saturday along with John Major in his R32 GTR, recording a time of 11.8 seconds over the quarter mile run.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/QS3I7851.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
A Custom built Diasio D962, i have never seen one of these before and it is almost like a small lemans style car, the best bit is its powered by a twin rotor.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/QS3I7855.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
Not to forget the bikes at the event, this is one of the more extreme side-car style bikes with no much to hold on to.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/QS3I7878.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
What i love about this event is the variety of cars, it is absolutely huge with over 200 cars across two days of racing.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/QS3I7891.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
Once a race class have raced on the track they are made to return on the same road, from here you can see the slight bend and incline they have to negotiate on there way to the finish.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/QS3I7912.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
The RED BUS racing team put on a great display, all of their cars were looking fantastic and many people stopped to have a closer look at the many fine cars they bought to Geelong.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/QS3I7926.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
Dont let the Showroom condition fool you!, this was one of the fastest cars to race on the saturday and the only other Nissan that came close to its time was the GTR VSpec 2 N1 2001 driven by Serge Alexander.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/QS3I7952.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
At the end of the straight you are forced to turn hard left and this makes for some interesting late braking.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/QS3I7970.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
Pit lane was almost as long as the whole track, with so many people walking around the pits it took a fair amount of time for all the cars to get on the track for their sprint.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/QS3I7976.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
Of the mazda&#8217;s entered into the sprint, this was my favorite, the paint job and the overall condition of this car was impeccable.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/QS3I7998.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
Here is another view of the cars returning to the pits, the Fiat X1/9, yet another favorite of mine because of its unique look and sleek lines.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/geelong_revival/QS3I8097.jpg" alt="geelong race"><br />
Considering it has been at least a decade between the last Geelong sprint, this event has come together with military precision. With a massive crowd in attendance, it would have to be one of Geelongs biggest events of the year. We cannot wait until next years event if this is just a taste of things to come.<br />
Thanks for looking,<br />

Hype soon built with the large number of people expected at the meet, and the hardtuned.net Facebook page soon lit up.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2787.jpg" alt=""><br />
I arrived a little late and didn’t expect to find a park, though myself and the lucky few behind me quickly snapped up the last ones.<br />
<span id="more-2207"></span><br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2654.jpg" alt="R34 blue GTR"><br />
Just coincidence, or was I seeing double? The R34 seems to be regaining popularity and for good reason.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2682.jpg" alt="hardtuned meet lots of cars"><br />
The wide variety of cars showed that no matter what type of car you have, the overall reason for coming together is the same.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2699.jpg" alt="people at car meet"><br />
Though not quite as big as Sydney, Melbourne is really starting to show its force in numbers with each meet seeming to get bigger and bigger.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2780.jpg" alt="flared guards 200sx"><br />
Some nice guard work going on here!<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2724.jpg" alt="holden drag car"><br />
Without a doubt the most powerful car at the meet. With head sized turbos and enough noise to deafen people 3km away, this car was a true monster.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2733.jpg" alt="drag car burnout in a crowd"><br />
Burnouts between cars in a stupid crazy drag car! No worries, except for all the cars that got sprayed with stones!<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2692.jpg" alt="gt3000 and legnum"><br />
Two Mitsubishis that deserve more respect. Both very underrated cars.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2746.jpg" alt="ed civic"><br />
This forth gen Civic with complimenting wheels really looks clean and unmolested.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2741.jpg" alt="r33 big aero"><br />
Some pretty funky aero going on here! &nbsp;Looks like this may not be just a hard parker.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2759.jpg" alt="mini carpark"><br />
Strange, I didn&#8217;t realise that there was a whole other mini carpark at the back of the place. &nbsp;I guess when you need to find a park you find a park.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2763.jpg" alt="jdm cars roll up"><br />
More and more cars continued to flow in!<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2650.jpg" alt="skyline r31 coupe"><br />
Two door R31&#8230; Amazing!<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2787.jpg" alt="R33 fitment, stance"><br />
Aggressive fitment! There is a hard line between having flush fitment and a daily driver without smashing the shit out of your guards.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2757.jpg" alt="ford esscort"><br />
Love the superlites and the tight tuck that’s going on here, the Escort is one car you definitely do not see on the roads anymore and that’s a real shame.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2718.jpg" alt="skyline r35 gtr black nice wheels"><br />
R35 perfection.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2805.jpg" alt="r32 skyline stance"><br />
The P-platers are really sticking it to the oldies and showing them how to modify. Great selection of wheels and ride height.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2802.jpg" alt="R34 nice blue"><br />
Check out the attention to detail on the valve caps and white tyre highlights! These small things really made this car stand out.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2712.jpg" alt="phat silvia nissan, nice stance fitment camber"><br />
The camber on this Silvia really helped to make this car look lower and phatter than it really is.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2848.jpg" alt="packed car park with sunshine"><br />
Hey look the suns out! Okay, it didn’t last long, only enough for me to take a photo of the huge crowd.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2734_1.jpg" alt="Melbournes nicest mitsubishi EVO"><br />
An old favorite of ours, MREVO returns to show the evo crowd how it’s done!<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2843.jpg" alt="Honda Legend, nice stance"><br />
Don’t you hate it when you have to drive directly into the sun?<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2851.jpg" alt="R34 mad GTR"><br />
Yet another fine example of the R34.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2836.jpg" alt="S2000 with rear diffuser"><br />
This photo racked up 200+ likes on our FB, and it’s easy to see why. This car truly is a masterpiece and it seems that you guys think so too.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2816.jpg" alt="classic corolla"><br />
Some nice classics, it’s good to see that these great cars haven&#8217;t been forgotten.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2769.jpg" alt="Honda Jazz Dropped"><br />
Back in the day I used to see quite a few great looking Jazzs hanging around, but these days not so much… So where are they all?<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/IMG_6244.jpg" alt="lorimer st"><br />
If only we could add another level to this carpark! There seems to be plenty of height to build up…<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2810.jpg" alt="sticker bomb skyline"><br />
Not just a Honda thing, sticker bombing is a trend that is here to stay.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/IMG_6253.jpg" alt="ke70 orange"><br />
A Super straight KE! So clean and well looked after.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/IMG_6251.jpg" alt="datsun 260z"><br />
The price on these has skyrocketed in the last few years and it’s easy to see why. What a shape and what a legend! It was great to see one in person.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2646.jpg" alt="datsun 260 engine"><br />
Complete with its original engine, which looks like it has been lovingly rebuilt.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2875_1.jpg" alt="honda legend tough stance fitment"><br />
I couldn’t get enough of this Honda Legend! I still remember when it had the standard wheels and bags. I have to congratulate Oxer on his fine choice of wheels and incredible stance.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/IMG_6256.jpg" alt="nice wheels"><br />
So tough! Mugen M7&#8217;s re barreled here in Victoria to offer some ridiculously low offset!<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2871.jpg" alt="Yellow ke70 with quad headlights"><br />
Ready for war! With a fat tyre profile and decent offset, this KE70 looks like it wants to rip your arm off and beat you to death with the wet end.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2886.jpg" alt="Burnout crowd"><br />
The crowd assembled on the road to witness the drivers giving their cars hell all while attempting not to crash them.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2882.jpg" alt="bog down chaser"><br />
Checkout the weight shift!&nbsp; With the extra weight in the back and the foot to the floor this chaser’s ass nearly touched the ground!<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/QS3I2884.jpg" alt="R35 on the move"><br />
No smoke, no steam, only astonishing speed. When this R35 flogged it, it disappeared within a couple of seconds!<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/IMG_6257.jpg" alt="wrx dark"><br />
By this time it was getting pretty dark and the majority of people decided to call it quits…<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/IMG_6281.jpg" alt="s2000 large group shot"><br />
&#8230; Except for this large group of S2000 owners!<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/IMG_6275.jpg" alt="Melbourne city s2k"><br />
What a view! Right on the water, it was the perfect place to take shots of one of Honda’s most loved cars.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/IMG_6276.jpg" alt="s2k meet awesome"><br />
I didn’t waste any time quickly sneaking in and taking a few photos. Where else do you see this many S2000s together?<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/ht_meet1507/IMG_6271.jpg" alt="S200 honda low many cars"><br />
With so many nice cars and quite a few people displaying some decent driving skills, the Hardtuned Meet was a huge success. This spot has seen some of the biggest car meets in Victoria this year, and if the scene continues to grow we’ll have to mark out measured parking to fit in as many cars as possible!<br />
Thanks for looking,<br />

<p>Well another month done means another end of month meet for the JDMStyletuning crew, with record numbers at every meet things are still looking good for Melbourne&#8217;s car scene&#8230; Despite some very frosty weather there was around 300 cars at the meet!!<br />
<span id="more-2110"></span><br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/QS3I2256.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
With those kind of numbers the small area under the Bolte Bridge was soon packed fence to fence, finding a parking spot was becoming extremely difficult with cars pouring out onto the street!<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/QS3I2246.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
Regardless of the &#8216;JDM&#8217; in the name, the meet always get its fair share of euros as well!<br />
With a healthy amount of v dubbers in attendance there was more then enough variety for those bored of the Japanese cars on show.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/QS3I2249.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
It was really good to see an SW20 turbo at the meet, their popularity has really dropped off in the last 5 years and that is a real shame.<br />
They are such a nice car and the GT model has one of the best interiors of the 90&#8217;s!<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/QS3I2253.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
S15 Varietta, it&#8217;s a love hate for some&#8230;<br />
We like anything that is different, with the roof down it is still one very attractive car!<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/QS3I2258.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
Sticker bombing on a whole new level!<br />
Next we will see a whole car&#8230; It&#8217;s only a matter of time.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/QS3I2340.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
Finally the brand new Toyota 86 makes it&#8217;s JDMST debut here in Melbourne!<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/leigh/IMG_0480.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
From here you can gauge the scale of how small this car really is, being very similar dimensions to the mx5 which is a very good thing!<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/QS3I2291.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
The hero car of 2012!<br />
It&#8217;s vital that the FT86 succeeds worldwide to remind the Japanese auto manufactures that they need to sell performance based vehicles and they should never leave their heritage to die.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/leigh/IMG_0532.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
The Galant VR4 is&nbsp;often a car that gets overlooked, they&#8217;re an aggressive car with plenty of bang for buck and a heaps of boot space!<br />
So much carbon fiber goodness too!!<br />

<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/QS3I2313.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
With nearly 300 cars at just one time there was nearly 600 people running around, ridiculous numbers for such an informal event!<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/leigh/IMG_0581.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
This KE70 has graced our pages a few times, it&#8217;s great to see owners so active and attending so many events.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/QS3I2326.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
The cars kept creeping through all afternoon, trying to find that special empty spot.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/QS3I2329.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
This R34 was utterly perfect, such a rare colour for a GT-R and the wheel fitment and colour combo was spot on!!<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/QS3I2331.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
Everyone dressed warm, those that didn&#8217;t huddled in cars for fear of dying in the sub 10 degree weather!!<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/leigh/IMG_0674.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
Talk about setting a parking trend.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/QS3I2342.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
We spotted these gangster as valve caps on this little MX5, it&#8217;s the little details that make a car.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/leigh/IMG_0624.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
The Nissan S15&#8217;s seem to double in numbers at every meet.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/QS3I2355.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
The cars made full use of the area, bumper to bumper parking meant it was extremely hard to get a shot of just one car in particular!<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/leigh/IMG_0675.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
A wild pack of Subaru&#8217;s appeared<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/leigh/IMG_0790.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
There where no more sun showers, soon the sun faded and the rain came down hard!<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/leigh/IMG_0871.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
Despite the downpour the cars remained and the show went on.<br />

One of the good old Evos, these always remind me of the PS1 game Colin Macre 2<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/QS3I2365.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
It&#8217;s a shame there is a fence between the meet and the water, this space would make for some awesome photo opportunities!<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/QS3I2380.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
Some of the clouds passed just to tease us with a few final minutes of the setting sun.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/JDMSTJUNE12/QS3I2387.jpg" alt="line up"><br />
Vyet&#8217;s track spec s2000 stopped the show for many who were in awe of this deadly little convertible, absolutely no hard parking here&#8230; This car gets driven!!<br />

After some unsavory behavior from some people leaving the event, the meet was quickly over and cars started to leave.<br />
A reminder to all those attending, don&#8217;t act like dick&#8217;s, dropping burnouts and the police will leave us alone.<br />
With a massive turnout in spite of some rain and freezing temperatures we can&#8217;t wait for summer!!<br />
Thanks for looking,<br />

Recently I attended an early morning starting point for a local Volkswagen cruise through the hills, the meet point was only 10 minutes from home so I had no excuses not to rock up and take some snaps.<br />
Except it was at 7:30 in the morning, on a Saturday&#8230; and I had a wedding to get to!! This did not deter me though.<br />
<span id="more-1740"></span><br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/VWCRUISE/2.jpg" alt="" width="650" height="433" /><br />
The boys and girls from <a href="http://www.vwgolf.net.au">VW Golf.net.au</a> are a dedicated bunch.<br />
I arrived at 7:30am sharp and nearly 15 cars were there already. They were all looking very shiny, full of fuel and ready for a day of spirited driving through Melbourne&#8217;s hills and the Yarra Valley.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/VWCRUISE/3.jpg" alt="" width="650" height="433" /><br />
Being a VW Golf forum the cruise consisted of mostly, you guessed it&#8230; Golfs!!<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/VWCRUISE/4.jpg" alt="" width="650" height="433" /><br />
Now I&#8217;ll admit I&#8217;m quite sheltered when it comes to Euro&#8217;s and modified cars outside of Japan, so combine that with my still sleeping mind on an early Saturday morning and I was aimlessly taking photos left, right and centre.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/VWCRUISE/5.jpg" alt="" width="650" height="433" /><br />
Shoot first, ask questions later!<br />
I found out this is the second generation Golf, the quad headlights are a giveaway that this is the GTI model.<br />
Another hint here is the Neuspeed badge on the front, things are not exactly standard here.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/VWCRUISE/6.jpg" alt="" width="650" height="433" /><br />
Nicely lowered on some aftermarket alloy wheels.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/VWCRUISE/7.jpg" alt="" width="650" height="433" /><br />
Aside from the VW&#8217;s there were quite a few intruders, none of which were as menacing as Todd&#8217;s Skoda wagon!<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/VWCRUISE/8.jpg" alt="" width="650" height="433" /><br />
This is certainly a car I haven&#8217;t taken much notice of before, partly because I&#8217;ve never seen many on the road.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/VWCRUISE/9.jpg" alt="" width="650" height="433" /><br />
The facelift Octavia is really quite an attractive car, I would definitely consider one of these as the run about car.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/VWCRUISE/10.jpg" alt="" width="650" height="970" /><br />
While continuing around my aimless wander through the car park I kept returning to &#8220;BFLAT&#8221;.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/VWCRUISE/11.jpg" alt="" width="650" height="433" /><br />
This superb little GTI was the star of the show, sitting very low and cleaning the streets as it goes!<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/VWCRUISE/12.jpg" alt="" width="650" height="433" /><br />
The car is a massive testament to keeping it simple. With the right wheels, a well placed sticker or two and of course the right ride height.<br />
Nearly any car can be transformed into a neck breaker!<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/VWCRUISE/13.jpg" alt="" width="650" height="433" /><br />
This car gets a lot of love, the inside was spotless!<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/VWCRUISE/14.jpg" alt="" width="650" height="433" /><br />
The wheels are of course Ronal Turbo&#8217;s, quite a rare sight around our side of the world.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/VWCRUISE/15.jpg" alt="" width="650" height="433" /><br />
This is the latest generation Golf, the MK6 Golf R. Compared to the previous version it is little bit smaller with a much more aggressive looking set of headlights.<br />
I absolutely love the new look, with another version due to be unveiled later this year I&#8217;m excited to see how it looks.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/VWCRUISE/16.jpg" alt="" width="650" height="433" /><br />
The second generation Audi S3, don&#8217;t let the 4 rings on the grill fool you.<br />
At the heart of this machine is actually a Volkswagen 2.0L turbocharged engine.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/VWCRUISE/17.jpg" alt="" width="650" height="433" /><br />
Looking into the distance you could have been forgiven if you thought the sun was rising awfully quickly this early in the morning, as it got closer it was in fact a bright yellow Renault Megane RS!<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/VWCRUISE/18.jpg" alt="" width="650" height="433" /><br />
As bright as the sun and nearly as hot, this little hot-hatch packs quite the punch!<br />
With 184kw at disposal thanks to the turbocharged 4 cylinder engine, this FWD Renault would be an absolute blast to drive!!<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/VWCRUISE/19.jpg" alt="" width="650" height="970" /><br />
Being unfamiliar with the euro scene, anyone care to enlighten me on these plates?<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/VWCRUISE/20.jpg" alt="" width="650" height="433" /><br />
So after taking a few photos and having a quick chat, I let the boys get on with their cruise and headed home to quickly suit up and get to the wedding.<br />
Hopefully next time there is a cruise I won&#8217;t be required to attend a wedding by another inconsiderate friend 😛<br />
Thanks for reading,<br />
&#8211; Gwyn.</p>

This is the story about George and his first true love&#8230; The Volkswagen MK1 Golf.<br />
The story started when George was just 15 years old, clicking away on Ebay he stumbled across a less than desirable example going for a low price.<br />
A few bids later and $1800 out of his savings, George and his father made the trip up to Sydney with a borrowed trailer to collect the car.<br />
The 2000km round trip was done in one day without any sleep!!<br />
<span id="more-1529"></span><br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/MK1/2.jpg" alt="" width="950" height="633"><br />
Why a Golf, you ask?<br />
George spent a part of his life growing up in South Africa, over there the MK1 Golf is one of the most common cars on the road, with local production continuing till 2010!!<br />
After moving to Melbourne, George never saw any older Golfs on the road. With that in mind when the time came to get a car and get his learners license, he knew what he needed to do if he wanted to be different. So while other kids at school got old Holden&#8217;s or Ford&#8217;s he held out for that special car he just&nbsp;couldn&#8217;t forget.<br />
<img decoding="async" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/MK1/3.jpg" alt="" width="950" height="1425"><br />
The first thing to happen to the car was general maintenance and getting the thing running and&nbsp;his bigger hopes and dreams for the car would have to wait until he had more cash.<br />
As you can imagine working part time while finishing high school doesn&#8217;t exactly make you rich and can leave you feeling pretty burnt out and exhausted.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/MK1/4.jpg" alt="" width="950" height="633"><br />
When the car first arrived home in Melbourne it didn&#8217;t even start and was plagued by wiring issues, being only 15 years old George wasn&#8217;t exactly mechanically minded.<br />
What he lacked in skills he made up for with enthusiasm and motivation, taking things apart and figuring it all out as he went along.<br />
Soon the car was running and George drove the car around on his L&#8217;s for a short time before he got sick of the car and the ugly body kit it came with.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/MK1/5.jpg" alt="" width="950" height="633"><br />
George started to piece together his vision of the car, after a lot of saving he could finally afford to remove the body kit and also managed to change the headlights from the quad lights back to the cleaner twin lights.<br />
While saving for the &#8216;freshen up&#8217; he found a set of euro chrome bars. These things are very rare to find and even harder to find as straight as the set George picked up.<br />
In the process of removing the kit, he discovered the paint had seen much better days, so he counted the rest of his cash and decided to paint it.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/MK1/6.jpg" alt="" width="950" height="1425"><br />
After talking with his friends he managed to convince a mate to help out and do a backyard respray, this saved so much money that George could also afford a new motor as the original 1.6l engine was getting very tired!<br />
He sourced a much newer 1.8l engine from a MK3 Golf and a 5 speed gearbox. The new engine also came down from Sydney just like the car!<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/MK1/7.jpg" alt="" width="950" height="633"><br />
During the engine conversion George got stuck into the engine bay cleaning it up and sanding it all back, he then sprayed it all at home by himself.<br />
The car was really starting to come together. When the new motor was in, he added a 32/36 Weber carby with dual throats. All of&nbsp;this helped transform the sluggish car completely, only weighing around 800kg the car now had plenty of &#8216;zip&#8217;.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/MK1/8.jpg" alt="" width="950" height="1425"><br />
George was now 18 and ready to get his probationary license, as a reward for himself and the car he decided it was time to finish the picture&#8230;<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/MK1/9.jpg" alt="" width="950" height="633"><br />
He picked up some ST coil overs and a set of widened &#8216;steelies&#8217;, then stretched some rubber over the wheels.<br />
The car was then slammed as low as it could go and he has never looked back!<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/MK1/10.jpg" alt="" width="950" height="633"><br />
Over the years that George has owned this amazing car, he has been meet with smiles everywhere the car goes.<br />
People just seem to be overwhelmed with the little orange car, whether it&#8217;s at car meet with like minded enthusiasts or down at the local shopping center with regular people staring in awe of it&#8217;s presence.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/MK1/11.jpg" alt="" width="950" height="633"><br />
Now of course not everyone is a fan the Golf. Local law enforcement haven&#8217;t exactly agreed with some of the things he has done to the car.<br />
Just a few weeks before we meet up with George for this photo shoot, he had to clear a defect which meant changing the ride height, wheels and removing his roll cage.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/MK1/12.jpg" alt="" width="950" height="633"><br />
It takes dedication and sheer stubbornness to drive a classic car like this, then modify it to the point in which it has absolutely no creature comforts like the ability to absorb even the smallest of bumps on the road!<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/MK1/13.jpg" alt="" width="950" height="1425"><br />
Some of George&#8217;s favorite destinations on the web, I&#8217;m sure it won&#8217;t be long after we post this feature until we see a &#8216;GSS&#8217; sticker on the back&#8230;<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/MK1/14.jpg" alt="" width="950" height="633"><br />
We had to keep stopping the shoot as more and more people came through the alley way, they kept stopping to look at this intriguing little car.<br />
After I had all the shots I needed and said my goodbyes, I left George and his friends with a bunch of photographers doing wedding shots in the alley, the bride did a couple of poses with the car!<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/MK1/15.jpg" alt="" width="950" height="633"><br />
Now the car does have some imperfections around the body, but that only adds to the story and character of this wonderful little car.<br />
How many of us have purchased and maintained our own car since the age of 15? Not many, I&#8217;m sure!<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/MK1/16.jpg" alt="" width="950" height="633"><br />
It really is low, what you can&#8217;t see here is the sump actually sitting on the pavement!<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/MK1/17.jpg" alt="" width="950" height="1425"><br />
So much has happened to the car while George has owned it. As he has grown up, so has the car.<br />
<img decoding="async" class="alignnone" src="http://photos.gripshiftslide.com/MK1/18.jpg" alt="" width="950" height="633"><br />
Nothing a band-aid won&#8217;t fix!<br />

George and his mates really got to work with some sharpies on the front fender, this sort of car graffiti is becoming more and more popular with many different styles floating around.<br />
This is some of the most intricate and complete sharpie panel art I have ever seen, months after the shoot I find myself still discovering new characters and elements on the fender!<br />

The bike isn&#8217;t just for looks, George is a big fan of BMX and has also just acquired a Huffy Slider!<br />
