Random Snap'z :: XKR jaguar

Sometimes things just appear, just like this XKR Jaguar that happened to park 20 meters away from my house.
I was surprised because I had only ever seen these at the motor show and you occasionally see Lambo’s and Ferrari’s around but not this type of Jag.

As the badge represents, this car is no joke! Although it is large, with a v8 power plant it does 0-100kph in 4.6sec’s

Some may say that this design looks very similar to the Aston DB9.

Monster brakes are needed to stop this large coupe. I’m shocked at the modern design of the wheels and the (look at me!) red calipers.

This photo shows the length of the Jaguar and the sleek flowing lines of this giant coupe.

In my option, this is one of the better looking Jag’s designed in the last ten years!

Rare and brilliant and I’m guessing the guy who drives it is English and likes to drink, considering it was parked out the front of the pub long enough for a photo shoot.

Yesterday was Australia’s first ever custom slider competition, held in Victoria at the Rob Roy Hill Climb circuit.

It was great to see such big support considering it still relatively new in Australia.

Walking around the car park at a recent practice day at Winton, I found this sticker on a little MX5… Needless to say, I was lost for words. What did it mean?!!

Stickers aside, it was one clean car. A perfect example of what I think is quickly becoming a modern day classic.

Random Snap :: Have You Met Gloria Yet?

A few weeks ago I spotted this very clean Nissan Gloria, on the way to a Vic Drift practice day at Winton.
It was around 5am when i snapped this pic and I don’t think the owner was awake enough to notice me creeping around his car. To my surprise I found the car again later at the racecourse. This is Japanese VIP at it’s best and such a massive grill too! It’s a shame there aren’t more of these Y34 Gloria’s in Australia. This is the 11th and last generation from Nissan but hopefully it’s not forever. After a few minutes walking around it, I was in love! A touch of VIP flare, a hood ornament sets the car off perfectly!Oh and yes… It’s a genuine Autech version too!

Around The Block :: Spectators Cars

Walking around the car park outside the Ken Block show was like walking into an internet forum, with so many of the cars/trends that we are so used to seeing on our computer screens all dropped on to an empty field together.

From the simply clean, like this KE70 Toyota Corolla.

To the outrageous! A Nissan Stagea sporting an R34 Skyline front end.

This Mitsubishi Evo was on the ‘function’ side of the fence, with no crazy offset and wearing its Cusco brace with pride.

However the trend in the car park seemed to be from the other side of the fence, ‘form’. With this Subaru’s flush stance and twin tone horns, it was maybe a little too clean for a rally bred AWD monster.

One of the cars that Subaru got right was this Liberty, tough and clean.

In a sea of Holdens, Fords and imports, this M3 BMW was flexing it’s muscles. I don’t think Australians give much credit to the quality and performance our European friends offer.

You might recognize this S14 from the last Vic Drift day at Winton, head over to our desktop section to grab a picture of this car doing what it does best.

A truly amazing car considering it is road registered and driven almost daily.

The R32 is coming back in strength, there seems to be heaps of mint examples cruising around the streets lately.

The plates say it all for this subtle R33 GTR.

I only counted 3 modified Honda’s in the entire car park… truly a shame. This clean s2000 made up for it though.

I’m surprised this intercooler is still attached considering it only sits 10cm off the ground.

Not everything was sports cars and crazy wheels, mini MP-V’s were out in force with a few good examples such as this Nissan Cube.

Hood ordainments, I miss them! They let you know that the car means business.

I wasn’t entirely sure what kind of car this was, a quick Google search soon revealed it was in fact a motorcycle. A Suzuki Boulevard M109R to be exact.

This 180SX was in need of a wash, dust aside it was sitting perfectly on some SSR Professors.

Series one 200SX’s have never really been a stand out car for me, this one was simple enough to catch my attention though and I happily snapped a few photos of it.

This R33 looked at home under these trees, almost like a postcard.

The owner of this Lexus GS400 has definitely been spending some time on the internet.

Nothing sets off a car better than a classic sticker-bomb!

If it was a facebook page, I’d like it.

This Toyota Chaser had seen better days, it was however wearing the most expensive shoes in the car park.

Rocking Gram Lights 57SXPROs up front and Work SP1s on the back, I’d like to think that I’ll be seeing this car on the track very soon.

This old school Soarer seems classier than the more recent examples, affectionately referred to as ‘sore-ass’.

If ever there is a day I have to drive a wagon, I hope it’s a Stagea. How good does this look!

The R32 Skyline, a modern day classic?

I think so.
It was a great show on Saturday and I hope those that made it enjoyed it as well, hopefully it wont be the last time we get to see Ken Block live.
Calder park was a fantastic venue and I really wish more events were held there, less than an hours drive from the Melbourne cbd it is a shame we don’t get to use it more.

Spotted :: Orange Lotus

Its not everyday you spot a lotus in a grass filled car park. On this occasion the little orange machine
was waiting for a friend..

This lotus looked like it had just rolled off the showroom floor.

Random Snap :: Fire Breathing Skyline

It seems this R33 Skyline at Vic Drifts latest practice day had decided it wanted to be a dragon rather than a drift car.

This Skyline was shooting flames all day long, ripping up the track and leaving chasing drivers nervous.

The glow from underneath was the only sign this was not your average Skyline…

Stay tuned for next months Vic Drift event, the last chance for many drivers to get some practice in before the Australian Drift GP.
Held at Calder Park next month, it’s going to be huge!!!

Awkward Moment :: When The Rubber Breaks…

This R32 Skyline is about to stop, rather quickly. The black smudge behind the car is in fact not dirt on my lens…

You can see where this is going…

One second fully inflated and keeping you glued to the road, the next minute it is flat and about to do some damage.

Here the destroyed tyre starts to bash the inside of the rear quarter panel. At this point, the car is really out of control.

What’s a spin without a good burnout?!

The rim somehow still intact after the sudden contact with the tarmac.

The aftermath… still with smoke blowing in the wind!
It’s amazing to see things like this unravel in slow motion.
It really goes to show the level of attention these drivers must have to avoid major accidents on the track.

Spotted :: Double Trouble

Walking through the car park at this years World Time Attack, I found these two aggressive looking Sprinters. Something about matching modified cars gets me all excited…

So you can imagine how excited I was to find two, perfectly matched R31 Skylines. just meters down the hill.
How awesome is the oil cooler on the front bar!

Spotted :: vw scirocco

Random snap at WTAC carpark, i managed to sneak a few pics of this vw scirocco that was hiding alongside many other nice spectators cars. This car defiantly has style, its the first one i have seen on the road this year i hope too see more.

it is one big 2 door hatch, the option of having 7 gears makes me think this is a golf on steroids with big shoulders and a heavy base.
