On a dark Saturday night a large group of JDM car’s descended on a car park somewhere in Melbourne’s east. Although not all of the cars where exclusively from the east, some traveling from the north for a chance to meet other JDM import owners. Many cars were seen scouting the area even before the meet had started at nine thirty, presumably looking out for police or defect stations.

Other cars where seen doing blocky’s just because they were lost and could not see the meet point. With a vague location listed on the Facebook event page a fair group of cars found themselves congregating around a nearby MacDonalds.

Once a small group of cars lined up next to each other then it was a simple case of follow the leader. Streams of burbling WRX’s arrived with a pack of Nissan’s bringing a chorus of turbo flutter.

It wasn’t just Subaru’s and Nissan’s that brought the JDM flavor but also a few Mitsubishi’s that made an appearance.

There were even a few Euro invaders sneaking in slowly amongst the herd of JDM cars, quietly they found parking spots close to the main action.

Not may people are brave enough to add a bold contrasting color that attracts attention but the red highlights on this R34 help to give the car a bit of an impact.

Rare and unique yet not a JDM car this Ford Sierra Cosworth was hidden up the back of the car meet where it didn’t seem to attract the attention it so rightly deserved.

Among the sea of regular JDM cars was this little and rare semi softtop suzuki swift. I’ve never seen one before however it does make sense that Suzuki would create such a thing especially in the nineties.

Now For the heavy hitters! The crowd pleasures! A supra with some serious power and a full blown drift car driving around on club plates. These two cars pulled the biggest crowd of the night they also attracted the attention of the police who were keeping a close eye on the car meet.

Another euro invader, a mini with some chunky BBS rims and plenty of style.

You can never go wrong with the traditional black and gold combo that’s why the John Player Special livery is one of the most loved race car livery’s.

Two cars that share DNA parked right next to each other! The real question is when will Toyota release a turbo 86? There are plenty of bolt on turbo kits but no factory option, we have only been waiting five years and still we wait.

A rather clean S14 with a fresh looking kit never fails to impress, the S14 is like a middle child it never gets the love it deserves.

Who needs shiny wheels when you have a striking paint job like this!

Selling merchandise at car meets is starting to gain popularity, not only where there all kinds of stickers for sale but there was also hot donuts and coffee!

A strong representation from the AE86 crew with a nice mix of hatch and notchbacks all in a row.

You cannot go wrong with an FD RX7 remarkably this one has a massive front mount intercooler tucked behind the front bar for a bit of extra oomph.

Classic Japanese style smaller negative offset wheels with fat tires, whats not to like about this Onevia!

A change of parking spot brought a whole new crowd to these two show stoppers. Unfortunately the Insane Customs S13 Drift car was not appreciated by the highway patrol who threw the book at them for driving on club plates after 12am.

Looking a little worse for wear this MX5 is mid restoration yet i bet we will see this car with a completely new look very soon.

At first i did not recognize what car this was, I soon discovered it was a Subaru Impreza with some special tuning from AVO. This Impreza goes by the name of GPVII and has it own following on Instagram.

Parked way in the back, ready for a quick escape was this beautiful R34 weapon. It sat quietly in the shadow of darkness just begging for a photo.

Having owned an import i know the feeling of always watching your back when driving in Melbourne, being a target because you have a loud car or something that looks relatively fast does not mean your a criminal. Car meets like this bring together like minded people to share their creations with the rest of the car community. Eastside JDM are helping to keep a good group of JDM fans together much like the original JDMST group and we hope to keep a close eye on this forever growing movement.
It’s a Wednesday night and there are two large car meets on. A decision had to be made. The choice was between a relativity new car groups meet or attend the car meet that is further away yet is older with a slightly larger following.

I knew making the decision to attend the Melbourne car meets : mini meet #8 was the right choice. Having been to a few of their events I knew there would be a decent sized crowd.

When it’s dark and raining nobody feels like leaving their house. To my surprise many people had made the effort to drive to Docklands to meet with some of Melbourne’s finest modified cars.

Like the crocodile, pop up headlights are a relic from the past. They are sharp, pointy and look freaking awesome but because of pedestrian protection laws this style of headlamp was taken from us. This makes me sad though we are lucky enough to still catch a glimpse of the humble pop up on our roads today.

A touch of Japan! No this is not a factory option. The owner must really love the JDM scene to do this to his engine bay.

Such a sweet combo! Love the straight pipes and wheel choice. This Corolla was one of the stand out cars for me as there are not many quality modified late model Corollas kicking around Melbourne.

The legendary s2k is truly one of the best NA RWD roadsters period. I cannot believe how affordable they have become recently. With so many young drivers buying these it’s hard to believe that this car was a $70k+ car.

Between the cars you could see groups of people converging through the underground car park. More and more cars started to arrive and soon the whole level was nearly entirely full of modified cars.

The new cars entering the level had to negate the crowds and this made finding a park even more difficult. Some people choose to turn up toward the end of the meet and missed some of the best cars.

Simplicity is often the key and this 86 is the perfect display of style over money. A huge height drop and subtle mods are all that are needed. With so many Toyota 86s on the roads keeping it clean is a better choice than cheap, oversized Commodore style wheels.

Mitsubishi Evo owners are known for being obsessive and meticulous, this example is no different. With a nice set of carbon add ons and many other mods this Mitsubishi is more than meets the eye.

Although the organisers of the meet had asked people not to pump their stereos and rev their engines it’s hard to stop such a thing when there is a big crowd. It adds to the atmosphere but it can also attract unwanted attention. It’s great to see the organisers are aware of this happening and took the preventative step of having a meet in the controlled environment.

I had spotted this little Charade a few weeks ago while I was driving. It was great to finally see it up close. The diversity of cars at this meet is a true testament to the modified community.

Fitment is a big issue in the scene. It’s hard to make it practical while also being functional. Suspension travel can be a real bitch! It’s hard to reach a happy medium with enough travel that your tires don’t get cut up and your spine is not shattering.

The CSL boot lid really makes this BMW stand out. It helps extend the curve of the car and gives it a slight racy feel.

One easy way of identifying the high class modified cars was the 100mm sticker. It is such a simple sticker that symbolises what the owner is inspired by and participates within.

It’s a shock to see a CRX without a bodykit! Keeping one of these standard is hard because there is just so much aftermarket Honda goodies on the market.

The amount of up and coming car groups in Melbourne is growing and over the years we have seen many groups fail and prosper. The one aspect that keeps good groups from falling apart is a loyal following.

This following can often turn into a bubble! When 500+ cars overtake car park the law is never far behind.

Keeping a good group of followers manageable is paramount to the success of a car group. Melbourne Car meets continues to kick goals and this meet was huge!

Even though you had to pay to get in to this meet, with steep ramps hard for lowered cars, this did not mater! Why? Because Melbourne Car meets are starting to set a precedent and it’s one that people are beginning to respect.

With well over 60+ cars on a rainy Wednesday night, and among competition hot on their heels, our friends at Melbourne Car Meets are really doing everything right. There are more car meets, shows, and other events planned by MCM. We will continue to follow their progress over this coming year.
Thank you for reading.

Its been a long time since i have been to winton raceway. Missing drift is what had inspired me to make the 3 hour journey to Summer Matsuri. With a host of wicked cars due to show up at the event and my gear all charged. It was only the road trip that stood in front of me.

Wanting to get to Winton early i jumped in the van at 4am, if you have ever made the trip before you will know that it is pretty much all straight roads. Boaring and mind numbing but rewarding at the same time.

With the sun quickly rising i ran around trying to capture some of drift cars bathing in the morning sunlight before there epic sideways adventures.

Soon this hybrid ford / r33 skyline would be smoking more than “Cheech and Chong” tires of course! Not only where people up early and working on their cars, they were also getting over the effects of drift party life.

When all the money is spent on the car their is not much left over for the drivers or the crew. That means that breakfast is cornflakes served in a halved 2 liter milk container.

Summer Masuri runs both saturday and sunday, this r32 was showing some battle scars from Saturdays long drift sessions that ran well into the night.

Matt Russells drift machine always looks good! it has recently just come back from ADGP in sydney. Although it has been competing against the best in Australia the car still looks straight and is here ready for a casual drift with Vicdrift friends.

This drift interior shows exactly what is needed for your average drift set up. Not everyone runs a heap of gauges and the main essentials are oil, water and boost.

With only an hour until the first session people were already queuing up for their tyres. Impatiently waiting to hit the track and burn some rubber.

The SmashBox Sliders were out in force and ready for another hot day of sideways action. Ryan and Elliott’s cars were looking strong and after surviving Saturdays carnage they knew the cars could hold out for another full day of drift.

Everybody assembled for the drivers briefing, with over 100+ people in attendance yoshi had his hands full instructing the large crowd. The drivers briefing is a good way of letting all the drivers know whats expected of them on the day and how they should behave.

Looking at this large line of people you wouldn’t think that drift is unpopular, but the sad reality is that it’s a fringe Motorsporat in Australia. Yoshi and the VicDrift team are trying to change the impression of drift in this country, doing this at a grass roots level is a long hard job.

As the sun continued to rise it was time to hit the track. With 4 different classes and variety of driver talent the stage was set for yet another awesome day of drifting.

In the drivers meeting there had been a warning about a rut / drop off near the start of the winding section of the track just before the main straight. Luckly most cars avoided this nasty edge by not running so wide out of the first corner after the back straight.

Trent and cat have been using every chance they can to test and tune cat’s new car. Now that the suspension setup is nearly perfect it was time for Cat to get some serious track time. While watching the Chequered Tuning VK shred tyres i noticed a few strange track exits on to the dirt. It turns out the car was suffering from an electrical gremlin which caused the car to cut in and out while in 4th gear,Scary stuff! Luckily trent found the problem and fixed it quickly.

Drift matsuri is a good chance for drivers to push themselves and their own boundary’s. Taking the chance to do extreme entry’s when there in not many cars on track is one one to develop your skills.

Some of the drivers would choose to power up the straight or slightly drift. Only the skilled ones would continuously drift from the bottom corner up the straight into end corner.

I didn’t matter what class the car was part of the simple fact was that everyone on track could really drift. When i think back to the early days of drift at winton there were plenty of drivers that just couldn’t drift.

This is one car that was definitely in the wrong class and should of been part of class A. Why? because Aaron was linking drifts like a pro at high speed while entertaining the crowd.

Sumner Matsuri is one of the best times to practice tandem drift and working on proximity in a competition free environment helps the drivers develop their proximity skills.

Given the weather all of the cars were coping with the thirty degree day. Although it was only twenty in Melbourne Winton often gets alot hotter than Melbourne.

Although some of the drivers may not agree with the organizers of vicdrift decisions they appreciate the facility of vicdrift. Respect is hard to earn but one person who completely surprised me with there hidden talent was Choonga.

Throwing hard and holding nearly every drift choonga would cut pro lines with speed and grace. Good high angle entry’s with plenty of power! The boy can drift. If he did more drifting and had some serious sponsorship he could easily be within the top 10 drifters in Australia.

I have never seen a Corona drift before but I like it. Although it may be slightly heavier than the KE70 it is a smart choice for a good, low cost drift build that will turn heads.

What’s a Drift Matsuri without the traditional Drift Matsuri Burnout competition! This year there was a special guest from Summernats; yet the car that stole the show was this Starion with an incredible rollback burnout that had the crowd screaming like school girls.

Not only was it good at burnouts this old Mitsubishi could skid. With plenty of flair and deep drift lines the Starion really was entertaining to watch.

Track time is the name of the game. If you want to be better at drift then Vic Drift Matsuri is the best way to get some serious seat time. This event is one of the best places to see new emerging talent. Fresh cars, new drivers and a friendly atmosphere! Vic Drift really does know how to put on a show so if you have a taste for drift make sure you attend a Vic Drift event this year.
Hype soon built with the large number of people expected at the meet, and the hardtuned.net Facebook page soon lit up.

I arrived a little late and didn’t expect to find a park, though myself and the lucky few behind me quickly snapped up the last ones.

Just coincidence, or was I seeing double? The R34 seems to be regaining popularity and for good reason.

The wide variety of cars showed that no matter what type of car you have, the overall reason for coming together is the same.

Though not quite as big as Sydney, Melbourne is really starting to show its force in numbers with each meet seeming to get bigger and bigger.

Some nice guard work going on here!

Without a doubt the most powerful car at the meet. With head sized turbos and enough noise to deafen people 3km away, this car was a true monster.

Burnouts between cars in a stupid crazy drag car! No worries, except for all the cars that got sprayed with stones!

Two Mitsubishis that deserve more respect. Both very underrated cars.

This forth gen Civic with complimenting wheels really looks clean and unmolested.

Some pretty funky aero going on here! Looks like this may not be just a hard parker.

Strange, I didn’t realise that there was a whole other mini carpark at the back of the place. I guess when you need to find a park you find a park.

More and more cars continued to flow in!

Two door R31… Amazing!

Aggressive fitment! There is a hard line between having flush fitment and a daily driver without smashing the shit out of your guards.

Love the superlites and the tight tuck that’s going on here, the Escort is one car you definitely do not see on the roads anymore and that’s a real shame.

R35 perfection.

The P-platers are really sticking it to the oldies and showing them how to modify. Great selection of wheels and ride height.

Check out the attention to detail on the valve caps and white tyre highlights! These small things really made this car stand out.

The camber on this Silvia really helped to make this car look lower and phatter than it really is.

Hey look the suns out! Okay, it didn’t last long, only enough for me to take a photo of the huge crowd.

An old favorite of ours, MREVO returns to show the evo crowd how it’s done!

Don’t you hate it when you have to drive directly into the sun?

Yet another fine example of the R34.

This photo racked up 200+ likes on our FB, and it’s easy to see why. This car truly is a masterpiece and it seems that you guys think so too.

Some nice classics, it’s good to see that these great cars haven’t been forgotten.

Back in the day I used to see quite a few great looking Jazzs hanging around, but these days not so much… So where are they all?

If only we could add another level to this carpark! There seems to be plenty of height to build up…

Not just a Honda thing, sticker bombing is a trend that is here to stay.

A Super straight KE! So clean and well looked after.

The price on these has skyrocketed in the last few years and it’s easy to see why. What a shape and what a legend! It was great to see one in person.

Complete with its original engine, which looks like it has been lovingly rebuilt.

I couldn’t get enough of this Honda Legend! I still remember when it had the standard wheels and bags. I have to congratulate Oxer on his fine choice of wheels and incredible stance.

So tough! Mugen M7’s re barreled here in Victoria to offer some ridiculously low offset!

Ready for war! With a fat tyre profile and decent offset, this KE70 looks like it wants to rip your arm off and beat you to death with the wet end.

The crowd assembled on the road to witness the drivers giving their cars hell all while attempting not to crash them.

Checkout the weight shift! With the extra weight in the back and the foot to the floor this chaser’s ass nearly touched the ground!

No smoke, no steam, only astonishing speed. When this R35 flogged it, it disappeared within a couple of seconds!

By this time it was getting pretty dark and the majority of people decided to call it quits…

… Except for this large group of S2000 owners!

What a view! Right on the water, it was the perfect place to take shots of one of Honda’s most loved cars.

I didn’t waste any time quickly sneaking in and taking a few photos. Where else do you see this many S2000s together?

With so many nice cars and quite a few people displaying some decent driving skills, the Hardtuned Meet was a huge success. This spot has seen some of the biggest car meets in Victoria this year, and if the scene continues to grow we’ll have to mark out measured parking to fit in as many cars as possible!
Thanks for looking,
– Grant

Last weekend, between a feature car shoot and a meet at Garage Cafe, I managed to squeeze in a small Evo meet Saturday night. With around 20-30 cars it wasn’t a massive event but the quality of the cars was very impressive!

Spotted :: GSS sticker on Jesse’s unhealthily clean Evo 7!
I just want to throw some dirt at this car, sorry Jesse!

I normally take most Evo’s for granted but this was the first time I have seen so many Evo’s together with no other cars around and I was certainly impressed!

Ladies and gentlemen, Mr Darth Vader! Why aren’t there more black Evo’s? I don’t know…
They look great!!

A wild VW Golf appeared!!
It was looking very spiffy dropped on some colour coded BBS mesh wheels too!

I recognised this wild looking Evo! This car belonged to a friend in NSW but it’s now with a new owner here in Melbourne.

The new owner plans to do some tweaking under the hood, after he clears his recent minor defect…

Much, much cleaner without the badges!

After walking around for 15 mins I kept coming back to this Silver Evo 9…

Owned by Vinnie for a little over two years, he has set out to make his own perfect Evo.
After getting the car away from the group for some private photos, you can see why I was so attracted to it!
The exterior has been subtlety modded but everything works together to make it quite a standout car.
With a set of aggressive looking Varis side skirts, front lip and generous amounts of carbon accessories the whole way around the car, it looks pretty unique compared to 90% of the other Evo’s on our roads.

The body sits pretty damn low over the Rays wheels and the ride height is brought to you by BC ER Coilovers.
The front is a touch higher to save that beautiful Varis carbon front lip from eating too much pavement.

Perfect fitment!! TE37SL 18 x 9.5 +22 at all four corners!
Tucking under the rear bar is a ver. 2 full carbon diffuser from Varis, with carbon splitter fins too!
Poking out from behind that is a PE II cat back exhaust from Greddy.

Inside you’ll find a pair of leather Bride Ergo 2’s on some matching Bride rails, a heap of Ralliart accessories and one extremely cool HKS digital gauge module running through his DVD screen!!
Vinnie has a few plans to re-trim the interior to match the seats, expect to see some leather and red stitching soon!

Up front you can see the Cusco brace hiding behind the grill, under the hood there are just a few bits from Tomei and Gruppe M and Ralliart, all of which help make a respectable 223KW’s at all four wheels!
Shifting through that power is made easier thanks to a OS Giken STR twin plate clutch.
Vinnie is nearly finished with the exterior, so the next plan of attack will be increasing the performance and includes some new cams and some extensive tuning.
We can’t wait!!

Stopping Vinnie’s ride is a full package from Project Mu on all four corners, with SCR slotted rotors and B-Spec brake pads!!

We think this is one of the best Mitsubishi’s around! The Varis lip and side skirts transform this outspoken four door into a shouting track ready daily driver.

The Evo meet was cut extremely short by some unwanted attention from the boys in blue, we were kindly asked to leave as the highway patrol were now on their way.
The officers said that if nobody was doing anything silly (burnouts etc) then they would find something to do, “If no one is messing around then they’re going to start doing road worthies!”
So everyone called it a night and headed home, it really is a shame that a bunch of car nerds standing in a car park in front of a closed shopping centre talking about cars is seen as anti-social behavior.

More meets are planned and the Melbourne scene is truly alive and kicking despite plenty of attention from the local police.
Thanks for reading,
– Gwyn.

Earlier this month the very first Forum Battle event kicked off with a meet at the newly launched Road Track Rally workshop, With a few competitors and a bunch of cars from the JDMST forum the turn out was great!

There was plenty of cool cars to gawk at, although most people stayed away from the cars and got busy socializing and putting some faces to the names they see online.

Everyone’s favorite Astra, the blackboard paint was a hit on the night!

The cleanest MX-5 in Melbourne?

The interior matched the outside perfectly!

One surprise on the night was Anth from build-threads.com bringing his old school Datsun down.

The thing was absolutely awesome!

The only other Honda at the meet, this beautiful EM1 Civic coupe was quite the gentleman with it’s manly mustache.

Nice colour on this 180SX.

I never thought this shape would grow on me, the front definitely has. The jury is still out on the rear end…

Marty from Mighty Car Mods brought the little blue Daihatsu along to the meet, with most of the car park covered it was time to head inside…

Inside the workshop was quite the wonderland of car parts and toys.

RTR had many expensive machines scattered around the shop.

A few top shelf exhausts… (see what I did there?)

For in house tuning RTR has this bad boy tucked away in the corner of the shop, an AWD mainline dyno.

The boys really have everything, upstairs was home to two massive flat screen tv’s, one with an Xbox and Forza Motorsport, the other with a PS3 and a copy of Gran Turismo.

Justin Fox from Zen Garage catching up with Daz and Brad from RTR, after one very long drive down from Sydney.

Justin and the crew brought down a ton of gear from their shop.

Don’t let the cleanliness of the workshop fool you, the boys at RTR do plenty of mechanical work. This Evo was getting it’s engine rebuilt and there was also a GT- Four Ceilica hiding away under some covers getting plenty of work done.

The workshop is also home for the RTR EVO X, this thing is completely built from the ground up and looks like it will be quite the monster out on the track.
We hope to bring you some more information and photos of this impressive time attack car before it hits the tarmac.
Don’t forget to visit RTR on the web, Like their Facbook page for live updates or head over to the website and see how they built the EVO Time Attack car.
With the end of the year fast approaching JDMST.com Vic members banded together to have one last bash. With the turnout expected to be pretty good, Grant and I eagerly headed out after work.

There were a few cars in attendance that are becoming quite the star of the local scene, one being Heath’s wicked Datsun Wagon.

This was the only mx5 that came to the meet and in blue too! It was great to see something a little different to the rest of the crowd.

What started as around 20+ cars spiraled out of control when it seemed that the meet got invaded by the local Ozhonda community.

Some Honda’s ranged from the meticulously clean to the more ‘USDM’ inspired with roof racks and all!

I think that that the AUDM circle headlights are growing on me a lot, now that every man and his DC2 Integra has a JDM front end conversion.

The common trend among Melbourne cars at the moment and I’m sure most cars around the world is ‘fitment’.
Having unique wheels with aggressive offsets or getting the wheels to sit as flush with guards as possible is the aim here, trolling through the internet I think most of Melbourne’s modified cars are getting this part very right.

Flush, tight and sweet, just how we like it.

Drift pipes are becoming very popular over here, loved the sound of this R32.

The Honda’s certainly dominated this meet, followed closely by Mitsubishi Evo’s. At one stage I counted around 15 Evo’s.

White and black were the choice of colour for the Evo’s, checkout this line up of spoilers.

Nice list on the back of this one.

In total the meet had around 130 cars, it’s a rare site to see such a large group like this in Melbourne and it didn’t go unnoticed by the local ‘boys in blue’. Thankfully most attending behaved well and there weren’t any incidents with the police.

This Supra is clean!! It puts most new model Supra’s to shame, nothing tasteless here.

This Skyline’s owner went out of his way to get a matching yellow sticker for his windscreen.

The location looked like a shopping center carpark during Christmas, the small path around the cars became blocked pretty quickly too.

One very nice looking Evo X.

The award for the most modified car goes to this incredible FD Civic, sporting Carbon everything and a K20 swap it had a crowd around it all evening.

The location was spot on and is easily the best place to hold a meet of this size, I personally would love to see a car show held here in the gritty docks of Melbourne.

The loudest car was this Subaru RS Impreza, it was a bit of a love hate relationship with those who attended. Some loved the sound while most fell to the ground having seizures it was that loud!

Sprint Hart CPR’s and wing lifters made this EK Civic stand out, little touches that the Americans have been doing for awhile are making there way here. keeping the modified scene fairly fresh.

The three black Em1Ccivic coupes stole the show at the beginning of the night, they looked so good together. All in the same colour and ride height!

What a line up!

For some it’s a way of life.

In the words of Dave Chappelle during the Rick James skit “darkness is here, darkness is here everybody!!”

Evo’s for days…

And days!

The crazy FD Civic again, loved those Carbon fenders.

Hello Domo!

Hate it or love it, roof racks are here to stay it seems.

Another impressively clean Evo.

It seems that it’s still pretty cool to be fashionably late, a group of Skylines arrived a bit later and stole the show.

Especially this menacing R34 GT-R.

Mitsubishi Legnum is a very rare sight on the streets.

The Skylines looking down on the rest of cars.

No one had any idea this end of year meet would become the monster meet it became. The crowd was great and it was a pretty positive gathering for the local scene. Only a few bad eggs at the end made some noise as they were leaving and the police made their presence known but didn’t flex their muscles at all.

It was a great way to end the year and I can’t wait to see what’s in store next, with loads on the drift calender and the World Time Attack in August as well as some regular feature cars, there is plenty going on!
From the team here at Grip Shift Slide, have a wicked Christmas and a safe new years!
Thanks for reading,
-Gwyn.

Neverland, one of Melbourne’s newest night clubs, showcased a fine selection of cars in a unique setting for the Hot Import Nights promotion.
I have always liked the boldness of the Evo 5. Its flares and large spoiler remind me of playing Colin McRae on Playstation.

Mugen Civic look alike.

These Lamborghinis stole the attention of the crowd.

The only Lexus in Australia rocking purple wheels!

This BMW made a quick exit from the event! Dinner must of been burning!

Classy set of wheels on this clean EK Civic. Rays wheels always look good.

You don’t see a v-spec GTR everyday! It was great to see one in the flesh.

A very clean Evo 8 sitting between great company.

Everybody wanted a seat in the Lambo’s but only the pretty ladies got the chance.

A very well looked after Evo 8.

The hardtop Murcielago and the convertible both sat in prime position the whole night.

Talk about nice offset! This AE86 was rocking some quality SSR Longchamps.
Hot Imports Night was a great idea. With a proper lighting setup and the inclusion of more cars this event can only get bigger and better.
On Saturday, members of JDM Style Tuning gathered at Docklands for their end of month meet. However, the weather was not on our side. In typical Melbourne fashion, the heavens opened and the rain just didn’t stop! That did nothing to dampen the spirits of all those that showed up and we were rewarded with a fine selection of JDM machines.
This guy was like ‘Damn I want me some cool JDM wheels!’
Baby Godzilla’s are becoming rare. It was good to see one that had been looked after so well.

A tastefully modified Liberty with a large exhaust system and burnt tips to set it off.

One of the greatest handling cars of its era; this Aw11 Mr2 was tough!

I’m a fan of these Honda pocket rockets! This well customized EP3 was sporting a nice set of BBS shoes.

Evo’s were by far the most popular car at the JDM meet. This example had many subtle carbon fiber add-on’s.

Toyota’s answer to the Intergra Type R-the AE111. A very under rated car that has a lot of tuning potential.

Mark III Supra. You could tell by the sound of it that it was hiding some extra horsey’s under the bonnet.

The Bolte Bridge is always a favourite for car meets and impromptu photo shoots.

STI monster. Something a little different to your everyday Rex.

Diahatsu Cuore with nice SSR Mk2 wheels.

This was the oldest and most striking Evo that turned up.

The Adidas sticker sets this Evo off! High performance branding on a high performance machine.

Mr Brig, Evo 7

Did someone say group shot?

With a feel of luxury performance, these Liberty’s have the best interiors and make a great daily drive with plenty of punch.

Despite the weather this meet was huge ! I have been to car meets where it is sunny and only half as many people show up!
It was impressive to see so many enthusiastic car lovers. We here at Gripshiftslide can only hope to see more of this type of thing come 2012.
